5 Super Smart (and Easy) Hacks You Need to Know Now
Whether you want quick and easy style hacks or want glossy, beautiful hair (or both!), we have the tricks the pros know and that you should too.
1. Mask on the Move
Heading to a workout? Load you strands with a hair mask and pull it up into a bun. The heat your body creates as you move will help the mask penetrate your hair for supercharged nourishment. Then, simply wash your hair after your workout as normal.
2. Apply Dry Shampoo at Night
Got fine hair? Apply dry shampoo to your roots before bed. Not only will it soak up excess oil but it will give your roots extra volume and bounce come morning.
3. Knot Just a Bun
For the perfect easy topknot, simply pull your hair into a high ponytail and secure with elastic. Split in two, and knot your hair. Knot repeatedly until you are left with short ends that you can pin in place, along with the bun. You'll have a topknot that has texture and shape in no time.
4. Add a Toothbrush to Your Kit
A toothbrush is a hairstylist's best friend. You can use it to tame flyaways, simply spritz with hairspray and brush them smooth, which is great if you want a sleek, snatched ponytail. You can also use it to create flyaways at the front of you hair when you're wearing an up 'do - simply brush in the opposite direction (toward the root) to lift baby hairs and flyaways for a romantic, pretty, effect.
5. Condition First
For curly, dry or colour damaged hair, conditioning before shampoo nourishes strands and prevents the shampoo from stripping much-needed natural oils. Start with a regular conditioner, rinse, shampoo, rinse and then - if needed - apply a leave-in conditioner at the end.
