JLo Dedicated Her Fashion Award to These Beauty Stars
This week at the glitzy and glamourous CFDA awards in New York City, Jennifer Lopez was given the accolade, Fashion Icon. Lopez has come a long way since her Jenny from the Block days, proving during her time in the industry that you can carve out your own way, your own style to become noticed and respected.
We were 100% crushing on her flowing hot orange Ralph Lauren full skirt and matching crop top, (hello, abs) but it was her acceptance speech that really moved us. The triple threat (singer, dancer, actor) dedicated her award to two artists: hairstylist Oribe, who passed away last year and makeup artist Kevyn Aucoin. The beauty stars both supported JLo on the early days of her career and worked with her to create some of her most iconic looks.
Among other looks, the late Aucoin adorned Lopez's face with crystals in her Waiting for Tonight video. I-conic. Oribe created the hair on the cover of the singer's first album On The 6 (which is 20 years old this month) and Sean Combs, her boyfriend at the time, told the star not to let Oribe get away and she didn't.
In her emotional acceptance speech, she said of both, "together we created so many iconic looks and I am forever grateful, so tonight I am dedicating this award to them."
If you haven't tried Oribe or Kevyn Aucoin's beauty products before then let us guide you to our favourites. Our founder Fara's go-to foundation is Kevyn Aucoin's The Sensual Skin Enhancer, €51, which she uses every day, without fail.
Oribe was known for his big blow-dries and Fara relies on his product The Royal Blowout Heat Styling Spray, €59, which nourishes strands, speeds up blow-dry time and imparts volume.
Next up, the one Huda Beauty product we'll be using all summer long!
