The Mood-Boosting Power of Makeup
During tough times we can often forget that it's the small things that can make us feel that bit happier. As Coco Chanel famously said, "If you’re sad, add more lipstick and attack." Studies have found that makeup can make you feel more confident and even smarter, with red lipstick being the go-to for that much-needed beauty boost. In one study, 51% of participants said beauty was synonymous with "looking healthy", "feeling good about yourself" and "to be self-confident".
Not to mention that the ceremony of applying makeup can be stress-relieving and meditative. There are few things more soothing than sitting at a mirror and playing with an eyeshadow palette. Life may feel a little uncertain right now, but that doesn't mean you can't factor a little fun into your day.
Some looks to try!
A matte red lip - blur the edges with a small brush for a romantic look.
Rainbow eyes - simply dab different colours onto your eyes. Artistic and fun!
Graphic liner - experiment with different shapes and colours.
Faux freckles and bronzer - to give you a sun-kissed summer look.
A cut crease - because, why not?
